The benefits of yoga are too numerous to mention. The practice will not only leave your body feeling restored but also leave you feeling happier and with a sense of ease and calm. Below are some of the proven ways Yoga can help you.

Reduces anxiety and depression. We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with stimulus and external pressures which result in an over reactive nervous system and high levels of cortisol and stress. Yoga helps to calm the nervous system and has been proven to lower stress and anxiety as well as help with depression.

Improves Athletic Performance. Yoga builds strength and improves endurance. Most people think yoga is just gentle stretching, while it can be it also can be a great workout that not only gives you the benefits of a moving meditation but can improve your strength, stamina and endurance which helps with increasing energy levels and performance in other sports and activities.

Better Breathing. Yoga has a vast array of breathing techniques that can either stimulate an under active respiratory rate (think lethargic and low energy level) to calm an overactive nervous system (anxiety, heart palptations etc) to increase overall respiration for sports performance and optimal oxygen uptake,

Reduce pain. If your suffering from back pain or shoulder pain you know it can be debilitating. Yoga has been proven to help alleviate the pain that is ruining your daily life and often your sleep.

Improved Posture. This should probably be number one one the list since its often the first thing to improve, even after session one. It is the first thing my clients notice that’s changed in their day to day life. They stand up straighter with more body awareness then they previously had and just feel better and more aligned and in tune with their body. When you are in harmony with your body you are happier.

Strength comes in many forms. Whether you start your yoga journey from a place of inner strength and philosophy or if you start with only a physical practice developing strength on your mat both will eventually need to be weaved together to find true harmony. For we can’t be truly happy and healthy mentally if our body is being neglected and our body can never be truly healthy if our minds and emotions are out of control. Yoga can help you achieve true long lasting health and happiness.
